A stress ECG (ergometry) involves an ECG being taken while the patient is subjected to increasing exertion on a bicycle. Blood pressure is also measured at regular intervals.

Procedure
The patient sits on a stationary bicycle. An ECG is taken while the patient cycles. Blood pressure is also measured. The intensity increases continuously over the course of the test. If symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath or exhaustion occur, the test is terminated.
Comfortable clothing or athletic clothing for cycling is ideal.
